Public schools are within the Williamson County School System (WCSS). There are seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools servicing the Brentwood area. (Please consult the Williamson Co. Schools website at www.wcs.edu for additional listings.) The Williamson County School System currently provides thirty-five (35) schools serving approximately 25,530 students. The schools and the central office are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Approximately 50% of the professional employees are on Career Ladder Levels II or III.
- Rank in the top 20 percent of the nation's 16,665 school systems based on student performance on college entrance exams
- Thirteen Williamson County students were recognized as National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists during the 2005-2006 school year.
- During the 2004-2005 school year, Williamson County students continued to earn achievement scores that ranked among the highest in the State of Tennessee.
- Help at-risk and special needs students succeed
- In 2004-2005, 98% of our high school seniors took the American College Test. Our countywide score of 22.0 exceeds the national average of 20.9 and the state average of 20.5.
- Our K-12 student attendance for 2004-2005 was 95.83%. The rate surpasses the Tennessee Department of Education of 93%.
- Our 2005-2006 countywide student/teacher ratios are: K-3 - 19.9/1; Grades 4-5 - 23.1/1; Grades 6-8 - 19.5/1; High School 21.0/1.

Teachers in the Williamson County School System engage in teaching strategies that have proven effective on a national level. These include the following: reading recovery, Slingerland, cooperative learning, higher order thinking skills techniques, classroom organization and management program, hands-on science and math techniques and the use of technology for instructional purposes.
