Williamson County is the fastest growing county in Tennessee. It is home to Nissan North America and 13 of the 25 largest, publicly traded companies in the Nashville region. During the last two years more than 30 major businesses relocated or expanded their offices in Williamson County. This includes nationally known businesses like Viacom, Verizon Wireless, Jackson National Life Insurance and the International Revenue Service. These recent gains are a reflection of the area's strong, stable and expanding economy, which grew by 4,300 new jobs and close to one million square feet of office space in 2010 and 2011. And there are no signs that the county's economic or population growth are slowing down.
There were 25 active projects in the works for the area near the end of 2011 and 35 total projects, which could bring in a capital investment of more than $332 million, according to the Williamson County Office of Economic Development. Just in case that's not enough incentive, here's more. Inc. magazine listed seven Williamson County businesses in their list of top 10 Tennessee companies. Brentwood is ranked the state's “second-highest business-friendly city” in Tennessee's Beacon Report. It's also the state's “smartest mid-sized city” according to The Business Journals. Williamson County has a labor force of more than 92,800 people, and more than half of them have college degrees.
Boyle Investment Company has started construction on two buildings in the Cool Springs area. MedSolutions will also be adding 263 jobs to the area over three years with their $16 million headquarters expansion investment. Vanderbilt University Medical Center is planning a $200 million medical complex in Cool Springs, while H.G. Hill Realty and GBT Realty are planning a new mixed-use development in Brentwood.
